Biography:

Shannon Desmond was born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts. She loved being part of a team as well as a community. Her high school volleyball team won 3 state championships, and she played college volleyball at Bridgewater State, where she majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology. After graduating, she became the assistant women's volleyball coach at Bridgewater State, and then the women’s graduate assistant volleyball coach for the University of Massachusetts - Boston, where she also earned a degree in special education. In 2014, she became a certified teacher and started her career as a 5th grade special education teacher at Sterling Middle School in Quincy, MA. Shannon transferred to North Quincy High School to teach in a substantially separate program for students with social and emotional disabilities. She taught English to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students, electives including Psychology and Life Skills, and became an English inclusion teacher as well. Shannon takes a very hands-on and constructive approach to teaching. She believes in the importance of building a safe environment as well as creating positive relationships with students while still pushing them to achieve their fullest potential.
